Milq - It’s about good questions.

Who was your first TV crush? What podcast episode blew your mind? If you could attend any recording session in history, which would you choose?

We created Milq because we love good questions about music, movies, and other obsessions. They break the ice, help us learn a little more about ourselves, our friends, and new people we have things in common with.

Milq makes it fun and easy to ask and answer questions with a group of people you find interesting. That might be your friends, or it might be the people around you: at a concert waiting for the show to start, at a coffee shop where you are intrigued by the same people every day, or at a bar while your friends are late to show up. Milq will let you know when you are near a Milq Group, or you can always start your own.

As you use Milq, youll create a cultural autobiography on your profile by answering questions about the first album you ever bought, the film role you wish you could play, your favorite samples in hip-hop, and more.

And you can check out profiles of your friends and other interesting people, discovering new things about them you wouldnt have learned anywhere else, and get recommendations for cool stuff that you need to check out.

If you know of a place where interesting people gather that might be a great host for a Milq Group - let us know!

Pros and cons of Milq app for iPhone and iPad

Milq app good for

Such a fun app to share and discover stuff from any medium, on any topic.
Glad that this is NOT just another social network - it is rather an interesting suggestion to how we should organize our culture! You will be pleased in both eyes and ears with this app.
Great player that plays just about anything with the looks to kill! Wicked combination of crowdsourced playlists around topics (beads) and interesting ongoing commentary significantly expanded my appreciation for genres just outside of my usual suspects. Get it! @olado
Very cool app. Curated content on tons of topics by people you can chose to trust or ignore. Love that some famous people are on here already.
Choose your interests and people will add great music and stories for you. The playlists just play great stuff. You can ad your own recommendations as well. The interface is exceptional every thing just looks clean easy to navigate and best of all it works smoothly. A must have app for any music lover.
I love this app! Milq is a great concept...I have discovered so many amazing artists through this app. Its so easy to use, and users can really influence its progression. It could use more content but when more people start using it it will really take off!

Some bad moments

Cant get past the interest selection screen. It says "try swiping me" and doesnt swipe.
Wait, I can ONLY establish a Milq account by going through a Facebook or Twitter account? Isnt Milq promoting itself as a more aesthetic (less online media crap infested) alternative to Facebook and Twitter? What if I dont, uh, like, DO Facebook or Twitter? There are one or two people out there like me, Im sure of it. Speaking only for myself, Im not in some social media dungeon because I dont know how to turn on my laptop or type on my iPhone, nor am I inappropriately (whatever that means) afraid for my privacy - rather, its because Im busy, and I dont care about your mojito gallery or what you had for lunch. Look, I am very familiar with the work of Milqs developers. I saw the NYT article this morning and was delighted - only to be blocked from signing up for Milq (after I downloaded the App) because I refuse to sign up through a Facebook or Twitter account. Help me out here, arent you guys trying to coax like minded people away from the daily onslaught of useless media ephemera found on FB & Twitter by offering them a place for a more thoughtful curation of online media? Did it occur to you that there might be relatively intelligent potential "curators" out there who have rejected FB and Twitter for the SAME reasons that prompted you to develop your App?
Great way to discover new music and content. Doesnt have the hater vibe of a lot of social media, its more like a discussion in a bar with friends - but ones I dont have! Where I else can I have a conversation about death scenes in film with Paul Giammati and have the world help me answer the question "who is the greatest American rock band" all at once?
I see the potential in this but the clunky-laggy music playback makes this app practically unusable.
It would be awesome if the music keeps playing(background) when you are on your other apps.
Youve lost this potential customer because youre forcing me to sign up before I can check out your service. Never ask for it until its impossible to continue without it. Deleted.
